35 per week *Employees will be entitled to a 75% discount off leisure, this includes off peak and super off peak tickets* Brief Description: In this role, you will lead and manage the Engineering assurance activities for the region specifically Functional Audits and Engineering Verifications of Maintenance, Works Delivery, Capital Delivery and ASPRO to ensure compliance with legislation, Railway Group and Network Rail company standards and that current risk controls are effective. Key Accountabilities: Lead the implementation of an effective Level 2 assurance regime for Signalling within the Regions, including system risks. Integrate and co-ordinate assurance activities across different engineering disciplines on the Region and contribute to the development of assurance engineers within the Signalling discipline. Undertake assurance activities (audit, review and end product checks) to verify compliance with the defined systems, processes and assurance framework to encompass maintenance, renewals / enhancement and works delivery functions. Carry out analysis and risk assessment, including the assessment of applications for derogations and non-compliances to identify problem areas, effectiveness of risk controls and opportunities for technical and business process improvement and innovation. Present findings from assurance activities to senior management and propose improvements through guidance, technical instructions, and briefings. Monitor the competency of Signalling Professionals on the Region. Manage projects from trial to product approval including producing business and safety cases. Undertake accident investigations when remitted to by the relevant designated competent person. Undertake the duties of nominated design and construction / design construction engineer. Carry out the duties of designated project engineer (DPE). Essential: Significant experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multi discipline areas. Technical qualifications to at least HNC level or equivalent. Membership of a relevant professional institution. Experience of contracting. Knowledge of structuring safety cases in support of projects. Knowledge of safety management and quality assurance. Understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of works. Accident investigation experience. Desirable: Six Sigma Yellow Belt. Chartered status or equivalent in the particular discipline. Appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works.
