Senior Project Manager (Building Surveyor) Team:

Facilities Management Team This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Facilities Management Team at Bury Council. The FM Team covers all aspects of the building lifecycle undertaking projects from planned maintenance, statutory compliance, and energy management through to refurbishment and extensions across housing, schools, public estate buildings, and offices. Our capability builds on over five decades of experience with extensive regulatory and legislative knowledge making sure that projects and the management of facilities are delivered safely, within programme, and satisfy our client's specifications and service expectations. Responsibilities:

Provide a comprehensive building surveying/inspection service and design, procure and supervise small/medium (less than £1.5m) building works schemes as part of Architectural Services to internal clients and Schools. Plan, program, organise, financially monitor and manage a series of independent refurbishment and new build projects and develop appropriate plan of works for each project(s) from initial estimates to the final acquisition of materials and bills of quantity. Ensure that the project is built to a high standard in accordance with the requirements of the Quantity Surveyor and in liaison with the Customer. Ensure clients are provided with value for money while adhering to the strict regulations which govern every aspect of the construction industry. Obtain and evaluate information to ensure a realistic cost for the supply of works, goods, materials and services for designated planned and preventative projects/contracts. Liaise with contractors, suppliers, clients, consultants, structural engineers to ensure information, costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of designated project/contracts. Create and implement a schedule of fire safety management strategies across all Council buildings including markets, leisure centres, residential accommodations. Minimum Requirements:

Have an HNC/HND qualification in a relevant subject and/or demonstrable experience in construction contract management. Be professionally qualified with an appropriate institution; e.g. RICS, APM, ICE, CIOB. Have proven contract management experience in a building/contracting context. Be experienced in the procurement, appointment and management of contractors and consultants delivering best value. Have excellent project/programme management skills, proven in similar assignments. Have experience of extrapolating and preparing client briefing documents, undertaking critical analysis of competing requirements. Have experience of Budgetary Control/Financial Management. Have a strong commercial awareness and experience of dealing with contract disputes, through both informal and formal processes. Have experience of working to targets and reporting progress against KPIs. Have knowledge & experience of relevant legislation, including Health & Safety. Have experience in the delivery of overseeing and providing Project financial/contract management. Have an understanding and working knowledge of statutory legislation, especially in a Construction environment. Be flexible and organised in your approach to work. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Have a high level of resilience, presenting a strong, confident approach in representing the Council's interest. Have an ability to develop and manage positive relationships with contractors, consultants, and staff. Have excellent IT skills and high level of competence in the use of Microsoft office, asset management systems and be proficient in the use of AutoCAD. In addition, you will be provided with all the support you will need to develop both personally and professionally. Working Conditions:

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week with a flexible working scheme based around the usual business working week.
