Senior Planner

The Role:

The Senior Planner will be responsible for the overall scheduling on the GHD project portfolio in accordance with the relevant contractual requirements. This role ensures compliance and management against a baseline, WBS, CBs, and OBS. The Senior Planner will develop project schedules from base principles given the design and brief, and enhance schedule maturity as the project progresses through its lifecycle. Managing multiple schedules across different client portfolios is essential due to GHD's diverse client base.

Key Duties:

Interact with project, functional, and discipline managers to obtain schedule updates.

Collect, interpret, and input schedule reporting data.

Interface with project technical staff to define scope of work, budget changes, and schedule variances.

Monitor actual performance against the schedule to identify delays, early, and late completions.

Abstract key milestones from the project baseline schedule and advise on key dates.

Support contract administration in matters related to the schedule.

Report performance measurement data regularly to inform current status, variances, and corrective actions.

Apply configuration/change control to ensure programme management activity remains focused on the agreed scope.

Use level of effort estimating tools to establish schedules for each project element in accordance with the overall programme.

Identify and analyse associated schedule, resource conflicts, and potential cost impacts and issues.

Prepare cause and effect and mitigation proposals in support of change management.

Support variance analysis, problem identification, development and implementation of corrective actions, and development of narratives to support monthly reporting.

Interpret and analyse schedule variances and interface with the cost analyst to establish relationships between scheduled activities and cost performance information.

Experience and Knowledge:

Hands-on experience in the production of project and portfolio schedule management.

Expertise in the collation and analysis of earned value-based project performance data and facilitating variance analysis and recovery action planning.

Good communication skills.

Experience in coordinating and managing multi-discipline teams.

Ability to meet deadlines without exceptions.

Team-oriented with excellent organisational skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with peers and external customers.

Working/hands-on knowledge of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.

Knowledge of financial management is preferable but not essential.

Substantial experience in using computer software products including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint.

Requires hands-on capabilities and a high degree of self-sufficiency in the development and production of deliverables.
