About the opportunity In this key role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of our software by designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality applications using Python, Django, and related technologies. You will also provide technical leadership, mentor junior developers, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes. About your responsibilities Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust and scalable web applications using Python, Django, and related technologies. Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve application performance, reliability, and user experience. Conduct thorough code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and security guidelines. Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, design, QA) to gather requirements, define technical specifications, and ensure successful project delivery. Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from planning and design to deployment and maintenance. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in Python, Django, and related technologies, and proactively explore and implement new technologies and best practices. Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges and provide support to end-users. Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and methodologies. Mentor junior developers and foster a positive and collaborative team environment. What you'll need to succeed 5+ years of hands-on experience in full-stack software development with a strong focus on Python and Django. Solid understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (including modern frameworks like React, Vue.js, or Angular). Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB). Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented programming principles, and RESTful APIs. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus. In addition, we're looking for Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills - we'll be looking for you to evidence this at interview. A passion for learning and a strong desire to continuously improve your skills. A proactive and results-oriented approach with a strong work ethic. Role location This is a hybrid role so you'll be based from our Cwmbran office twice each week to work and collaborate with colleagues. There's plenty of free car parking onsite.
