About the company:

My client is a family-owned company turning over £320M. Covering regions such as the South East, North West and Scotland, my client is very well covered across the UK, working on projects that cover Water, Rail and Civil Engineering. One of my connections started off at the company as a trainee quantity surveyor and since then has moved his way up through the commercial team to Managing Quantity Surveyor. Due to his career path, he only wants to bring people into his team who share the same vision as him. Training and development is a huge part of their culture; they have a programme put in place to help all members of staff grow and they want to help bring the best out of all their staff.

Being one of the leading names within Utilities and Civil Engineering, the client has a low turnover of staff. People like to stay at this company for a long time because of the high standards of work they set and the huge opportunities within the company to progress, develop and grow. My client has landed a few huge contracts with the likes of HS2, Thames Water and UKPN. This is due to the standard of work they produce and because of their huge diversity programme. Diversity is something they take very seriously and something they like to involve within the company culture; a concept that is brilliant to see within the modern construction industry.

About the role:

Due to the high-performance levels they have set, they have landed a long-term contract covering the whole of Kent & Sussex working on projects ranging in value from £300K to £5M. This gives all their members of staff great stability and repeat work over the next decade.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will undertake general surveying duties of projects as required, which will include reviewing and pricing variations and preparing valuations for the respective Project Manager and Commercial Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs across multiple projects, ensuring each is profitable for the Company. The projects that you will be involved in will be working on NEC contracts on underground cabling.

The Commercial Manager who you will report to is energetic, fun, very approachable, very knowledgeable, and a great person to learn from and work with. He likes to have a one-to-one relationship with his staff.

About the benefits and rewards:

The Company makes personal development, career progression, and long-term stability a priority. The successful candidate will be working for a company that encourages internal promotion and wants to see employees progress through the company. You will also be part of a fun and energetic working environment where they are motivated to do well.

You will be rewarded with a very competitive salary ranging from £60,000-£65,000 + company car/car allowance. There will be 24 days holiday plus bank holidays.

About the requirements:

You are required to have a good standard of education, preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND, HNC or equivalent qualification) in either Construction, Civils, Commercial management or Quantity Surveying.

To be considered for this position, you should have experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within Civil Engineering for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 company. You will ideally have a utilities background, but this is not essential. Your work history should be stable; ideally, you should have worked at your previous companies for a number of years.

The role is a permanent position. No freelancers can be considered.

A UK driving license is mandatory for this role.
