Senior Quantity Surveyor Location - Birmingham An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading multi-discipline Tier 1 Contractor in the heart of the West Midlands within their rail division. Senior Quantity Surveyor Benefits: Salary Negotiable Car Allowance Annual leave 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Pension scheme Private Healthcare Life Assurance Senior Quantity Surveyor Role: To lead and manage the commercial team within your allocated portfolio of multi-disciplinary light rail projects from inception to final accounts. Senior Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities: Working with the Commercial Manager and Senior Project Manager to lead, manage, develop, and train the commercial teams across your project. Raise commercial awareness and embed commercial focus and best practice across each project team. Assisting in the preparation of contract documents, including bills of quantities, specifications, and drawings. Manage the Risk & Opportunities process to identify risks and opportunities during the tender and construction phases, ensuring the Commercial function delivers contractual solutions and strategies that balance these risks and opportunities. Proactively drive the recording of all contractual entitlements, ensuring timely notification of events and accurate pricing and substantiation of change meet contractual imperatives. Establish and maintain rigorous cost controls, including early warning systems, and provide robust accurate financial data and management reports on each project through the monthly reporting cycle, including cost value reconciliation and earned value management. Provide procurement support to ensure each project is delivered safely, timely, at the least cost, and to optimal quality. Deliver contractually agreed cash flow and ensure all applications for payment are submitted/assessed in line with the contractual timescales. Ensure all valid Supply Chain applications for payment are assessed and certified in a timely manner and payments are made in line with the relevant supplier agreement. Management and mentoring of junior commercial staff. Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested. Senior Quantity Surveyor Requirements: BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management Degree. Minimum 5 years Commercial Management experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor with a proven track record in major projects. Interface with project and engineering teams; interface with finance and procurement teams. Excellent written and communication skills.
