Job summary

If you are a qualified Radiographer come and train to be a mammographer and join our dynamic team at the Breast care centre at Musgrove Park Hospital. You will be working with a team who provide both Symptomatic and National Breast Screening Services across Somerset. You will be working with up to date breast imaging equipment offering Tomosynthesis for breast assessment. You will also be part of the team providing the National breast screening service travelling to and working on mobile units around Somerset. Main duties, tasks & skills required

We will train you to obtain a post graduate certificate in mammography. Training is nationally and in-house and will usually take about 1 year. You will be able to perform good mammograms to a national standard, work in assessment clinics, assist with breast biopsy, and learn extra imaging techniques. You will work with the symptomatic team performing mammograms and follow-up mammograms. You will become efficient on all the IT and imaging systems in the centre to work efficiently in the team. You will be working in both the symptomatic and screening breast services. You will be expected to travel to the mobile units a few days a week. You will be working in symptomatic and assessment clinics each day. You will be performing good national standard mammograms, performing extra views and assisting with stereotactic breast biopsy. You will be trained in all the hospital and national IT systems needed to work efficiently. You will be supporting other members of the team in both services. You will be chaperoning for symptomatic clinics and biopsy examinations. You will take part in daily and weekly Quality assurance testing on all imaging equipment. Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

The candidate will need a post graduate certificate in Radiography. Also hold a British driving license and be prepared to drive out to a mobile screening unit in and around Somerset. The candidate must be able to speak English and communicate effectively with compassion and empathy due to working in a cancer service. Desirable
