Senior R&D Manager – Patisserie

role will create and deploy a R&D plan for patisserie, leading a team of 6 colleagues at our Buckingham site. Turn food science features into benefits for our customers and teams. Be the technical reference for the design and optimisation of Puratos’ Fruit and Cream Fillings products. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

You’ll be involved in: Managing, mentoring and leading a team of 6 R&D colleagues. Actively contributing to the team’s goals, project management, activity prioritisation and evaluation. Alongside the Business Development team leaders, creating the strategic direction for Puratos’ Patisserie activity in R&D: where to focus, what products to invest in, how to deploy our resources. Defining and monitoring R&D Patisserie KPI’s. NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATIONS

Alongside the R&D Manager, ensure effective curation of the ingredients and product innovation pipeline for Patisserie. Design and make the new products for two product areas: Cream Fillings & Decors and Fruit, managing the process through ideation, industrial scale-up and use by our customers on their plants. Familiarity with the equipment that turns ideas into reality, in the lab and on plant. Leading projects to roll-out existing, and new, products at our customers’ production facilities. Identifying and managing business opportunities and risks to existing partnerships. Explaining complex technical concepts in simple terms to educate and stimulate. Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for specified customer accounts. BUILD AND SHARE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Contributing to Puratos’ understanding of what, why and how to use Patisserie ingredients to create and ameliorate. Demonstrate fluency with the UK’s food legislation landscape and how it could change. Leading your team’s understanding of how to discover objectively and repeatably. NETWORK BUILDING

Build strong connections with the Nation’s pâtissiers and Patisserie equipment manufacturers. Develop and maintain a network of ingredient and equipment experts in Puratos and externally. Foster a culture of knowledge creation through relevant industry bodies and research institutes. Ensure a functional link with the BU specialists in Head Quarters. WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We’re looking for someone who displays: Commitment - To the environmental challenge, particularly with respect to resources. Rigour & discipline - Use scientific method to shape and answer questions. The successful candidate will: Have at least 5 years’ experience managing and leading teams. Have at least 10 years’ experience working in the Food Industry – Research or New Product Development. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or equivalent. Be able to travel in the UK and occasionally abroad (40% on average). Be open to flexible working hours. Be computer literate (primary usage: Microsoft Office Suite and SAP tools). Hold: Drivers’ license, Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate, and HACCP level 3. WHY WOULD YOU JOIN PURATOS?
