Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner
to assist in the running of our Registered Children's Home based in March, Cambridgeshire. The role Juventas cares for looked-after children in residential and semi-independent supported accommodation so they can live a positive and meaningful life as they approach adulthood. As a Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner, you will lead the shift when on duty in our children's homes. You will deliver the highest standards of care, protection, and support to Children and Young People by facilitating their physical and emotional development. You will also work as a member of the home's staff team to safeguard children and provide them with the necessary support, care, and guidance to enable them to live a positive and meaningful life as they approach adulthood. As a Residential Support Worker, you'll be responsible for: Attending children's reviews, case conferences, and planning meetings as necessary; Leading in the development of up-to-date care plans and risk assessments and ensuring this information is understood and followed by the team; Monitoring the effectiveness of these documents and delegating updates to other members of the care team as needed; Ensuring that all children and young people have their needs met and are safeguarded from harm, neglect, abuse, or exploitation; Responding to any childcare concerns appropriately; Ensuring that the building, equipment, and furniture in the home are well maintained; Working effectively and coordinating with social workers, parents/guardians, and other connected professional agencies; Leading debriefs at the end of shifts and supporting feedback to the senior management team. The ideal candidate You'll have: A UK driving licence, and the ability to reliably commute to the home; A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities; An NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (for the right candidate, we are willing to offer training pathways to this qualification); The ability to relate to and communicate with children; An understanding of a child's development including physical and emotional needs; The ability to work with children who may have suffered past trauma and/or have significant attachment needs; An understanding and commitment to reflective practice; The ability to identify the needs of children; The ability to undertake regular sleep-ins; The ability to organise your own workload and meet targets; The ability to contribute to a team approach to service delivery and problem solving.
