Job summary This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Physiotherapist to join our friendly team at Hillingdon Hospital and Mount Vernon Hospital. The post-holder could be based at either Hillingdon or Mount Vernon hospital but may be required to rotate across Hillingdon Hospital. There is an MSK outpatients rotation and at Mount Vernon Hospital (situated in Northwood) there are options to rotate into the elective orthopaedic and hand therapy rotations as well as spinal and peripheral rotations in MSK. Both sites require the post-holder to join the orthopaedic weekend rota (trauma at Hillingdon and elective at Mount Vernon) for which competency training is provided. You should have a good base of experience particularly in outpatients and orthopaedics with a good background knowledge of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions. We are looking for an applicant with excellent clinical skills, compassion, and enthusiasm to help in service developments and projects. The candidate will need to be adaptable, organised, and enjoy playing a major role in supervising junior staff, assistants, technical instructors, and undergraduate students on clinical placement. Main duties of the job The Hillingdon Hospitals Foundation Trust is committed to evidence-based practice and research is actively encouraged. Development of clinical skills is supported through a programme of regular in-service training, supervision, CPD, and further information can be found in the candidate pack. This post requires a degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent and HCPC registration. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Clinical: To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own clinical practice, including the management of patients. To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi-pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis. To formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on specialist knowledge, evidence-based practice, and a variety of treatment options. To take delegated responsibility from the more senior physiotherapists for managing patients with particular conditions and be responsible for providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment plans for patients within each rotation. To formulate soundly reasoned prognoses and recommend the best course of intervention, developing negotiated goals leading to comprehensive discharge plans. Person Specification Essential: Degree or Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy Health Professional Council Registration Evidence of post-graduate courses in relevant field Clinical experience in NHS or similar health service across a range of settings Evidence of CPD of expanded specialised skills Understanding of professional standards of practice - national and local. Understanding of clinical governance and implications for the service
