Location: Saffron Walden (CB11) Duration: Permanent Hours: 9am until 5:30pm (Monday to Friday) but can be slightly flexible on start / finish times Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 per annum Job Reference: 35498

Polytec are looking for an experienced Chemist to join the R & D team of our client based in Saffron Walden. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the R & D department in delivering individual R & D projects and will likely have a background in either synthetic or medicinal chemistry with excellent knowledge of chemistry instruments, lab innovation and product development.

Responsibilities:

Provide scientific and technical knowledge to R & D team on product development projects Contribute to the company's strategic product development and product portfolio plans to ensure they align with market demands Participate in individual R & D projects, attending review meetings and ensuring projects meet end-user and company requirements Engage with the external scientific community through conferences, customer visits and exhibitions Oversee internal testing processes for new and existing products and provide advice to ensure alignment with quality and performance expectations Identify opportunities for collaborations and partnerships that drive innovation and expand the company's market reach

Requirements:

Degree in chemistry, biotechnology, or a related scientific field Minimum of 10 years' experience in a scientific or laboratory environment Understanding of synthetic organic chemistry and the medicinal chemistry process Knowledge of process development, scale-up chemistry and the drug discovery process Experience of delivering innovation in lab chemistry methods, technologies & instrumentation Experience of experimental design and data analysis Basic understanding of Mechanical engineering and CAD Knowledge of design, prototyping and testing process Familiarity with materials science in relation to laboratory instrumentation Experience with patents and the patenting process Proven ability to evaluate and implement emerging technologies Experience collaborating with research institutions or academic partners Good problem-solving skills
