Senior Simulation Engineer, Innovation and Design Engineering

Job ID: 2727340 | Amazon UK Services Ltd. This role can be based in any of our European Corporate Office.

Are you passionate about creating digital experiments that validate innovative automation technologies? Do you excel at using simulation tools to optimize mechanical designs and processes before they're built? Does collaborating with hardware development engineers to revolutionize logistics automation excite you? The Worldwide Innovation and Design team is seeking a Simulation Engineer to lead discrete-event simulations for our Last Mile (AMZL) network technologies. We offer the opportunity to shape the future of automation through digital experimentation while working with world-class engineering teams.

Come join us as we revolutionize logistics automation around the world! Key job responsibilities

As a Simulation Engineer at Amazon, you will lead the creation of complex discrete-event simulations that validate new technologies early in their development cycle - focusing on process simulations to understand throughput requirements, bottlenecks, and operator machine interactions. You will utilize your expertise in simulation software (FlexSim, Emulate 3D) and programming to create digital experiments that optimize processes and influence mechanical designs whether it be robotics, AGV's, conveyors, or storage systems. You will have ownership of strategic modeling projects, establish best practices, and influence design decisions through data-driven insights. Your work will directly impact the success of revolutionary automation technologies in our logistics network. Note:

there is a preference in this role for Flexsim experience, we will consider candidates without this skill if relevant process and system experience is present. A day in the life

A day in the life of a Senior Simulation Engineer works backwards from a goal of digitally validating a technology: you work with Hardware Development Engineers in your team to understand a new technology and decide: What needs to be tested on this design, what is the best simulation method, how can I set up the Design of Experiment and how do I clearly summarize the results. You will work on numerous projects in different areas of the business therefore a wide range of tools in your simulation toolbox is desired. About the team

You will be within the "System Integration & Performance" team within Innovation & Design Engineering. Innovation & Design's overall goal is to find, test, and improve new technologies for application within Amazon's last mile logistics. We focus on mechatronics technologies (Robots, Conveyors, Sorters) and how they can level up our process. The System Integration and Performance team has 4 Pillars: Data Analytics, Simulation, Physical Validation, and Integration. These 4 pillars work together to act as a toolbox for our Hardware Developers to drive design changes based on accurate data and test methods. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- PhD, or Master's degree and quantitative field simulation experience - Experience communicating simulation findings to drive business decisions - Investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience converting research studies into tangible real-world changes - Experience with discrete and continuous optimization methodologies and algorithms - Experience of industrial processes Posted:
