We care for patients following complex cardiac, aortovascular, and thoracic surgery, complex cardiology, with one of the busiest Heart Attack Centres in Europe, ECMO and Oncology patients within our specialist centre. We have 53 critical care beds across 4 areas - with rotations available between the units. We have plans to expand our bed base making it an exciting time to join our team!
Must be able to work a mixture of long days, bank holidays and nights to meet service requirements.
Main duties of the job
To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised, holistic patient care in conjunction with the inter-professional team.
As a proficient practitioner in critical care, the post holder acts as a professional role model and clinical teacher. They will also provide effective mentorship and supervision, participating in the education and training of nursing and non-nursing staff.
They will also take charge of the Intensive Care Unit as required, liaising closely with the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse with continuing responsibility.
They will also coordinate beds for the ACCU/HDU managing patient admission from theatres, heart attack centre and wards, as well as patient flow across units and the hospital.
