Experience of shift leading and managing patient flow will be essential, as is the ability to dynamically stream patients to the appropriate caregiver. You must be forward-thinking and committed to the ever-evolving needs of the department and be proactive in improving the experience of the general public who access our emergency services daily. You will be responsible for the care and development of both junior colleagues and student nurses, creating an atmosphere conducive to learning and practice development, whilst also planning, providing and maintaining a high standard of effective nursing care to our patients and their relatives. As a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse within the Emergency Department, you will be responsible for ensuring that safe, effective and high-quality care is provided round-the-clock, taking the lead in the management of all clinical duties, exploring safe provision of the service through skill-mix review and allocation to workload, working in partnership with your associate director of nursing, head of nursing, matrons, clinical service groups, other wards across the healthcare group and wider trust, as well as additional services provided across the healthcare community. You will also support the development of all staff, creating an atmosphere conducive to learning and practice development and continuously develop and enhance your own knowledge and skills, which will directly influence consistent standards of clinical practice.
