To offer management support and supervision to the Adult Social Work services to ensure that a strengths-based approach in line with the principles of the Care Act 2014 is applied within all areas of Social Work practice.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

Strategic Management

Deputise for Team Manager in appropriate situations as deemed necessary.

Lead in necessary multi-disciplinary meetings including but not limited to: conference calls within a hospital setting; chairing Best Interest meetings; Managing Officer for safeguarding enquiries; Chairing Safeguarding meeting; Response to system crisis (market management, LSE); lead and direct accordingly.

Maintain specialist knowledge in practice areas, including but not limited to: Practice Education; AMHP; BIA; Collaboration with other organisations to work in partnership for outcomes for adults; Contribute to the development of integrated services across health & social Care.

Performance

Formally supervise a number of non-registered social care staff.

Informally supervise all Social work team staff as described above.

Application of the revised supervision policy across the team.

HR Process (AL/sickness).

Ensure Social Work England CPD Standards are complied with.

Practiced development: continuous learning and learning to shape practice of both qualified and non-qualified staff.

Maintain links with Principal Social Worker to identify and promote Social Work practice within the organisation and in line with Social Work Professional standards, which encompasses practice development on a day to day basis.

Oversee complex cases, including fulfilment of the Managing Officer role for safeguarding cases, and where a specialism requires, hold a small complex caseload.
