Job offered by: Butternut Box | B Corp

Category: IT & Technology
As the most senior engineer of a small ‘skunkworks’ style AI team within our broader Product Engineering teams, you will work closely with our Director of Engineering, Head of Product, engineers, product managers, designers and stakeholders to help solve customers' problems where we think generative AI can help make a difference and directly impact their (and their dog's) daily lives. This role is a hybrid role with three days a week in the office (Mon, Wed & Thurs) in West London. In this role, you can expect to: Work directly with stakeholders to iteratively and quickly ship improvements to AI tools, ranging from tooling to improve the efficiency our Customer Love team and help customers get answers quicker, to automation tooling for internal teams, to working closely with other teams to deliver digital product improvements using genAI (i.e re-imagining experiences with customers to be built from the ground up with genAI). Constantly have an MVP mindset so we can test and learn quickly, shipping early versions of products to rapidly get feedback. Work with our Director of Engineering every day directly on AI projects. Work with our Head of Product to help shape the AI roadmap. Gain real-world experience with cutting edge tools, deploying them at scale. Truly embody our #DedicatedandDetermined value, taking on significant challenges with the promise of seeing incredible results. A bit about you. Strong customer-focused and product-minded approach to building software that is supported by interacting with customers to understand their needs and are used to prioritising outcomes and impact over all else. Comfortable with ambiguity, adept at navigating product challenges, and actively input into shaping product vision. You thrive in early ideation stages, share work-in-progress (such as drafts or MVPs) to gather feedback when it's about 70% complete, and easily adapt based on input. You have a constant drive to ship products quickly and iterate on them. Comfortable managing technical debt pragmatically with an ability to strategically balance resilience, testing, and documentation with making quick trade-offs in order to ship products that prioritise impact or implementation. Passion for startups and small teams. Obsessed with dogs! A bit about what we offer. 25 days holiday (plus 8 bank holidays) and an additional day for every year of service. 5 paid 'paws' days per year to support learning and/or wellbeing. £500 personal learning & development budget. Butternut Box employee discount. Enhanced parental leave. Co-working office space. Flexible working hours and work from home options. Cycle to work scheme. Pension with NEST. Private Medical Insurance with Vitality. Private Dental Insurance with Bupa. Time off for fertility treatments and pregnancy loss. Paid sabbaticals for squad members with 5 or more years at Butternut. Discounted gym access through My Gym Discounts. Lots of office dogs (Ajax, Brio, Basil, Chorizo, Lenny, Jasper, Peggy, Pip and many more…). We have big plans to grow over the next few years so it is an exciting time to be joining Butternut Box. You will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in developing the products that will define our future. This role is for someone who is hungry for that challenge. A few things to note: Butternut Box is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity and inclusion. We welcome people of different nationalities, backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives. We're not afraid of putting extra weight on candidates from underrepresented groups. We want strong, diverse teams built from different backgrounds, experiences, and identities. #LI-Hybrid Apply for this job
