Job offered by: Cereus Ultrasonics
·
Category: IT & Technology
Cereus Ultrasonics Ltd. is an early commercial-stage company, just four years old and based in Poole, Dorset, UK. Our first product is a ground-breaking downhole Ultrasonic well inspection tool for the oil and gas industry. The first version has undergone very successful trials and launch earlier this year. A further two variants of the technology are planned utilising our ‘Cereus Engine’. After this first industrial phase, the company is planning to introduce this ground-breaking ultrasonic and acoustic solution into other industrial sectors, with specific interest already generated for applications in medical and defence. The technology used within Cereus Ultrasonics is based on novel and advanced acoustic techniques, much of which is the culmination of many years of R&D undertaken by current Cereus Ultrasonics’ engineers working within the naval industry for sonar systems. See our website for more information about what we do and what we’ve been doing: We now have an exciting, permanent position open for a Senior Software Engineer with all-round capabilities, but with some specific requirements. The post involves the downloading of acoustic and non-acoustic data, processing and displaying the data in in various display formats and selected sections as an interactive 3D image, all within a self-contained GUI with the ability to reformat the data to an industry format (LAS2, LAS3). Many of these elements are already in place as an engineering package. However, for the next phase of the downhole tool programme, we need a more end-user focussed solution to support our coming ultrasonic tools. The above is the initial main focus, but further support and ongoing development to include more advanced acoustic processing and displays. In addition, some data analysis support for customers will be required as a feedback process to further improve the software system. The successful candidate will have an enthusiastic attitude towards being a key member of a small specialist team, working to grow the future of this company on various ground-breaking projects in new industrial areas and applications. They will also be able to work legally from our office in Poole, Dorset, UK and there may be occasional short periods of working in other areas, both in the UK and abroad. The candidate will be prepared to spend at least 3 days per week in our office in Poole, Dorset. Knowledge of software engineering processes
