Kerensa Ward is a 25 bedded acute eldercare ward specialising in providing care to those with dementia, cognitive impairment and complex care needs. We are looking for a Deputy Ward Leader to come and work within our fantastic team, striving to provide outstanding patient care. Are you an experienced registered nurse looking for their first leadership role or in an existing leadership role and want a new challenge? If this is you, please consider this exciting fixed term contract and let us know what you can offer us, and what you hope to achieve so we can work together to support your career development for the future. You will be fully supported to develop your management and leadership skills in the role, but you must have post-registration experience including working with older adults and have completed mentorship training to be able to mentor students. This requires excellent communication and liaison skills which you will have the opportunity to develop further whilst in post. Main duties of the job

Actively seek the views of patients and carers in the process of evaluating care provision within the ward/department. Constantly promote the importance of the patient experience within the ward/department. Promote and embed working practices that maintain patient’s privacy and dignity. Work flexibly throughout the hospital when required. Support staff development in order to maximise potential, encouraging everyone to learn from each other and from external good practice. Possess effective time management and personal organisation skills. Manage allocated resources effectively and efficiently, maintaining the correct skill mix of staff for patient dependency. Lead an agreed area of unit management e.g. infection control, tissue viability. We are a supportive, innovative team, who work together to achieve the best outcomes for our most vulnerable patients by demonstrating compassion and creativity to enable meaningful activities during the patient’s journey.
