An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit Band 6 senior staff nurse to work within the 1 bedded Critical Care Unit in Gwynedd Hospital.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board operates three Hospital sites with a total of 33 Critical Care beds, delivering care for all unscheduled care and a broad range of surgical specialities.

The Critical Care Unit aims to deliver safe, high quality care and ensures a positive patient experience. As part of our team, you will represent the Trust in delivering nursing care in line with BCUHB Values and treat all staff/colleagues, patients, families, and visitors with respect and dignity.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Staff Nurse in Critical Care will be responsible for ensuring a high level of patient care at all times throughout the unit. They will be actively involved in, as well as supervising, patient care, managing unplanned admissions and ensuring accurate staffing levels. They will need to be confident in leading the unit in the absence of senior management and be involved in the supervision and development of junior team members.

The successful candidate will be part of a real team, able to communicate clearly with those around them and have a calm approach to problem solving. They will be committed to creating an environment of continuous improvement and learning to ensure the highest possible standards of care are maintained at all times. Finally, they will demonstrate a passion for a patient-centred approach by keeping the department organised and professional at all times.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

NMC Registered Nurse Diploma or Degree in Nursing Advanced Life Support or willingness to undertake Post Registration Course relevant to critical care area Mandatory training to be up to date

Desirable

Management qualification IQT Bronze/Silver

Experience

Essential

Significant post registration experience Significant experience in band 5 in critical care Management experience

Desirable

Experience of undertaking research/audit work and standard settings
