Welcome to Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and thank you for your interest. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated nursing team. The role includes both working within the inpatient area and a busy Outpatient Dressings Clinic. This is a great opportunity to develop wound care skills as well as joining a team who deliver an excellent nurse led service. Peanut Ward is a regional referral centre for children who sustained minor to moderate burns injuries, as well as other types of trauma. The service also provides excellent care for children needing Maxillo-Facial and Ophthalmic treatment. With the opportunity and support to develop both professionally and personally, we expect our nurses to actively contribute to our continued success. We received “outstanding” for care in our CQC report. If you do not hold current NMC registration you will automatically not be shortlisted for this role. Main duties of the job

Caring for pre-op patients, post-op patients and dressing clinic patients. Care and preparation of children undergoing plastic surgery or maxillofacial surgery. Care and support of children with burns injuries in the outpatient dressing clinic. Support of parents whose children are undergoing surgery. Managing the ward on a day to day basis, leading shifts, preparing for the next shift and supporting junior staff. Person specification

Experience

Experience caring for paediatric surgical patients. Experience of working with complex wound management. Experience of teaching nursing skills including pre and post-operative assessments, wound care and safe discharge planning to junior staff. Shift Management/leader experience. Experience of nursing care of patients admitted for day case theatre services. Experience managing safeguarding issues. Experience caring for burns and plastics/maxillofacial surgery patients. Qualifications

NMC registration as a paediatric nurse. Management, Leadership and team working Training. Management of the Burn Injured Patient Module/ENB 264. Skills

IT skills with Microsoft and other computer systems. Paediatric blood sampling. The closing date given is a guide only.
