We are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic engineer at senior level to undertake a key role in our expanding civil and structural engineering team, based in Edinburgh, delivering design solutions to clients across the UK and overseas. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of technical solutions on single and multi-disciplinary projects as well as being involved with the programming and financial management of the projects assigned and assisting in the career development of junior staff within the team. Project work will vary and range across sectors including international, defence, education, residential, industrial, healthcare and conservation for both public and private sector clients. Ideally, you will be a motivated, progressive and versatile individual with recent experience in the areas required for this position who can adopt a flexible approach to their role and provide support to the team within the office - an individual who is willing to go the extra mile to ensure work is delivered correctly, accurately and on time. Your Role:

Reporting directly to a senior member of the team, you will: Undertake structural design (typically Eurocode & British Standards) in a variety of materials. Assist in the delivery of projects on time and to budget. Exercise a degree of autonomy in decision making to achieve the team’s objectives. Comply with quality management and technical excellence systems and project procedures. Assist in the contract and financial administration of projects. Undertake site visits and surveys both in the UK and overseas. Take charge of project deliverables, make decisions on developing discipline design elements, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way. Liaise with clients, architects, and other design team members to develop designs. Work as part of a larger team on major Tetra Tech commissions across our national and international teams. Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

Be working towards becoming a Chartered structural or civil engineer (MIStructE or MICEE). Experience working in a structural engineering consultancy environment. Experience of developing the careers of junior members of staff. Good attitude to health and safety practices within the workplace and in preparing design solutions. Previous experience of working outside of the UK would be beneficial. A strong commitment to knowledge acquisition and CPD. Fully IT literate and proficient in the use of standard Microsoft Office products. Have the ability to use structural engineering design software such as TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Building Design Suite REVIT Structures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate with clients, architects, contractors, other consultants (at all levels) and statutory authorities. Ability to obtain UK government security clearance is a requirement of this role. Person specification:
