We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse to be one of the first to join our team at HMP Millsike, a Category C men's prison, located in the village of Full Sutton near York. HMP Millsike will have an operational capacity of 1500 people who will spend their sentences learning the skills they need to find work on release as part of the government’s drive to cut reoffending. The prison site is currently under construction and Practice Plus Group were recently awarded the healthcare contract to begin delivering services in April 2025. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a new healthcare team from the inception of a brand new prison site. This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of between £39,900 and £46,200 per annum - depending on experience. How will we support you? As a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will: Deliver comprehensive assessment and recovery planning. Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model. Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users. Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers. Qualifications and experience required: Registered nurse with current NMC registration. Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD). RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake. Experience of working with opiate dependent patients. Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge. Able to motivate and persuade others through advanced communication skills.
