Job Summary: As a Senior Support Worker in a residential children's home, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and guidance to children, while supporting and mentoring junior staff members. You will help create a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment that fosters the well-being and development of the children in our care. Your role will involve leading by example, assisting in the day-to-day operations of the home, and ensuring that the care team delivers consistent, child-centered support. Key Responsibilities: Care and Support: Provide direct care and emotional support to children, ensuring their individual needs are met in a safe and caring environment. Support children in their personal development, promoting independence, self-esteem, and emotional well-being. Build trusting relationships with the children, advocating for their needs and ensuring their voices are heard. Leadership and Mentorship: Support and mentor junior care staff, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care. Lead by example, promoting best practices in care delivery and fostering a positive team culture. Assist in managing staff rotas and ensure the team works cohesively to meet the needs of the children. Safeguarding: Actively contribute to safeguarding the children, identifying and responding to any concerns in accordance with established procedures and statutory guidelines. Maintain a safe and protective environment for the children, working closely with other professionals to ensure their welfare. Compliance and Record Keeping: Support the home in maintaining compliance with all relevant Ofsted regulations, legislation, and standards. Accurately document the progress of children, ensuring that care plans are up to date and all records are maintained to a high standard. Qualifications and Experience: Essential: Level 3 Diploma in Children’s and Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent). Previous experience working in a residential children's care setting. Knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures, and child protection. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and support junior staff effectively. Desirable: Experience working with children with emotional and behavioral difficulties (EBD). Knowledge of therapeutic care approaches.
