The Role Support the Nurse in Charge/Manager to ensure the Support Workers and Care Assistants are carrying out all delegated tasks to a high standard. Support the Care Assistants to fulfill their roles, and provide feedback to the Nurse in Charge regarding any areas of concern or positive interactions and outcomes. Assist in meeting the personal needs of the service users in a way that respects their dignity and promotes independence, including outings and skill development. Help in the care of the service user’s physical environment and in the general day-to-day activities of the Home. Organize activities for service users to help them lead as full a life as possible, e.g., handicrafts, games, reading, outings. Assist/ensure that the emotional, physical, medical, and spiritual needs of the service users are recognized, assessed, and met. Fulfill the role of key worker and encourage service users in decision-making regarding their lives. Actively participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and carry out key worker roles, including handing over information and communicating with outside services as instructed. Collaborate with families of service users, providing feedback and ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times. Follow the leadership of the Nurse in Charge of the shift and work in partnership with the Nurse to ensure a high standard of care is provided at all times. Administer and record on all relevant documentation related to residential medication packages. Contribute to the assessment of need for each service user in conjunction with the service user, relevant professional agencies, and, where appropriate, the service user’s family. Assist in developing and executing an appropriate Care Plan that ensures a satisfactory quality of life for each individual, recording any relevant information and reporting to senior staff any actions/recommendations that have not been carried out. Assist in carrying out risk assessments related to individuals and activities, ensuring that all risk assessment proposals are implemented. Assist the Home Manager with supervisions and appraisals of care staff. Take responsibility for Health & Safety issues, reporting any dangers to self and others. Assist service users who need help with personal care. Help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence, and assist with the use and care of aids and personal equipment. Maintain good standards of food presentation, hygiene, and cleanliness. Prepare and serve meals, assisting service users as necessary, and clear away dishes afterwards. Inspect, mend, launder, and iron service users' clothing or supervise them doing the same if appropriate. Answer the door and telephone, greeting visitors appropriately. Assist professionals, e.g., nurse, physiotherapist, chiropodist, as necessary. Read and write reports, participate in staff and service user meetings, and in training activities as directed, on or off-site. Read all relevant communications, sign, and carry out instructions. Report any changes in residents’ conditions to the Nurse in Charge/Manager. Record incidents involving residents, staff, or visitors in the Accident Book or other relevant documentation. Record all complaints and comments appropriately, taking proper action where possible, and report the matter immediately to management. Care for residents’ property and that belonging to the Home as directed. Care for equipment and report any defects to the Manager. Clean up spills as they occur using appropriate equipment supplied as specified in the Control of Infection Policy. Please submit your application form or CV using this form.
