VIQU are seeking a Senior Systems Monitoring and Backup Engineer to join an IT business that specialise in providing a broad spectrum of IT services and solutions.

As the Senior Systems Monitoring and Backup Engineer, you will play a key role in continuously improving monitoring systems, addressing security vulnerabilities, and executing core NOC processes. The Senior Systems Monitoring and Backup Engineer will use their expertise to guide both technical support and project tasks, ensuring the efficient operation and resolution of network and system incidents. You will focus on maintaining best practices and seamless communication with clients while overseeing critical systems and supporting the broader service delivery.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Systems Monitoring and Backup Engineer:

Provide expert technical support and lead project tasks for clients Monitor systems, analyse events and troubleshoot incidents, collaborating with internal teams or external partners for quick resolution Ensure solutions are implemented according to best practices and industry standards Maintain clear and effective communication with clients Manage customer documentation, perform audits, and oversee change control processes Monitor and manage critical systems such as backups, disaster recovery, and IAAS platforms Suggest and implement improvements for ongoing service enhancement Assist with customer trials and contribute to pre-sales discussions as needed Act as a key escalation point for technical issues and incidents

Essential Requirements of the Senior Systems Monitoring and Backup Engineer: At least five years' experience managing and optimising IT infrastructures with monitoring solutions. Skilled in handling critical issues and incident management, including communication via ITSM platforms, with senior stakeholders. Preferred certifications include Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, CCNA, and Veeam VMCE. Strong networking skills across cloud and on-premises environments. Expertise in monitoring tools, alert systems, and backup solutions like Veeam for Microsoft 365. Experience with RMM, SIEM, antivirus, and backup monitoring tools. Knowledge of Backup Radar, Datto RMM, and Barracuda is highly desirable.
