The Medical Device Service supports users of medical equipment across all of our hospital sites within the Northern Care Alliance.

Main duties:

You will have a key role in supporting the mechanical team's responsibility for the manufacture, maintenance, repair, and sub-contractor management of medical equipment. This will include first-line support to users of medical equipment to optimize systems uptime to gain maximum use of medical equipment.

Ideally, you will possess a minimum of HNC in mechanical engineering and have relevant experience since qualifying in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Knowledge in the application and repair of a wide range of mechanical equipment used in a hospital and community is essential, although some specific training will be provided.

Training and opportunities to develop will be offered at a band 5 for an appropriate candidate who does not meet all the essential criteria.

Please note that, for this post, you will be required to have obtained a full UK Driving Licence.

Main duties of the job:

The post holder will provide specialist mechanical knowledge for the implementation and delivery of a long-term operational plan for cost-effective and efficient management and deployment of safe medical devices across the care organizations. They will be working towards achieving compliance levels for medical device repair and maintenance, including downtime, and ensuring that systems are available to enable clinical teams to have insight into progress with maintenance and repair of their devices.

The ideal candidate will have experience in design, using CAD ideally, and to produce products using mechanical workshop machinery such as milling machines, lathes, grinders, drills, and other mechanical fabrication tools.

Qualifications:

Essential: HNC (level 4/5 BTEC) minimum in Mechanical Engineering

Registration:

Desirable: Register for clinical technologists (RCT)

Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Experience:

Essential: Extensive experience in a field of electromechanical maintenance and repair Experience in fabrication, milling, and turning. Experience in electrical safety testing and knowledge of electrical systems and fault-finding techniques Knowledge in the application and use of a wide range of engineering equipment. Knowledge of CAD Experience of bespoke design of electro/mechanical products

Desirable: Wide range of supplier approved training on the servicing and repair of Electro biomedical equipment Experience of working in an ISO9001 engineering environment Knowledge and experience of current legislation recommendations for the management of medical equipment

Other:

Essential: Full/Clean UK Driving License
