We are looking to recruit a Senior Test Engineer to support our team of Test Engineers, in designing and developing the test rigs and test procedures that are used to validate our innovative, cutting-edge designs. As one of a number of test engineers and technicians, you will be responsible to conduct tests in accordance with our documented test procedures, playing a key role in the delivery of our design verification test plan. You will be working within a team of experienced engineers, driving innovation, whilst ensuring the successful execution of business-critical projects. Key Responsibilities: Working under guidance of engineers to design, create, develop, operate and continuously improve our test facilities, test rigs and procedures. Supporting our build technicians in the construction of new test rigs and facilities and working with the test engineers to complete the electrical safety assessments. Conducting testing in accordance with our documented procedures, capturing test results and generating test reports. Recording of test failures and supporting engineers to carry out additional testing to identify root cause, evaluate and prove out potential solutions. Since our product contains high voltages (more than 1kV), will be expected to conduct all testing in accordance with our documented risk assessment and method statements. Responsible to ensure test equipment is maintained in safe condition and calibrated in line with manufacturers recommendations, including electrical safety testing. Ensuring good housekeeping standards in the test area with participation in risk assessments, for safe operation of all test rigs and facilities Attending and supervising test activities at external test houses, therefore an element of travel (UK based) can be expected. Train and support staff who undertake similar activities and tasks in your areas of expertise. Petalite is based in Birmingham B4 7BA, the role will require on-site attendance with some flexible working. Requirements for this role: Significant experience in the testing of electrical & electronic systems preferably at least one year of experience operating at senior technician level with the ability to read electrical and electronic schematics. Will be familiar with and experienced in conducting the range of tests (functional test, legislative compliance tests, environmental tests, endurance tests) HV experience is desired but not essential. Experienced in testing and fault finding of PCBAs, power electronics and systems through use of electrical and electronic test equipment such as power supplies, electronic loads, high speed multi-channel scopes, power meters, RF spectrum analysers, etc. Must have extensive mechanical and electrical practical experience applied to prototyping and pre-production work, including construction of test rigs. Must have good verbal and written communications skills, able to document and present his/her work to others in the form of presentations and test reports. Highly organised, able to make the most effective use of time and resources.
