To work with the project lead, to capture relevant test requirements from the product design specification, and design drawings and attend regular project review meetings. Draw up test hardware, such as adaptor plates and test shafts. To quote and raise orders for rig interface hardware. Create and review risk assessments with the project lead, to determine the test program is within safe operating limits and in line with Wärtsilä QEHS standards. To assemble test rigs, monitor rig operations (through data acquisition) and perform product inspections at agreed test periods. Manage testing of external products at OEM, equipment suppliers, and 3rd party test facilities. Produce a final test report detailing the test program, test data, conclusions, and relevant recommendations for future test work. Where appropriate, present their findings. Proactively ensure compliance with Wärtsilä QEHS requirements and be a 5S advocate. To be actively involved in training and mentoring others. Support less experienced colleagues. Help maintain our company’s compliance with classification society standards, including ISO14001 and ISO9001. Actively support developing the test facility into a global centre of excellence. What do we expect from you?
Proven background working (minimal 5 years) within a Test Engineering environment, ideally with mechanical seal assemblies. Have a Degree or preferably a Master's in a relevant Engineering subject. An experienced self-sufficient Senior Engineer, needing very little supervision. A quick starter, that can function well in their new role from the outset. To interpret design drawings and be competent in using CAD software to draw test hardware. Someone from a design engineering background, looking for more hands-on will find this an ideal role. Comfortable doing and understanding relevant Mechanical Engineering calculations. Good technical knowledge especially within the Marine industry is desirable. Particularly working with classification societies and IMO compliance standards. Demonstrate ability to use test monitoring software tools such as LabVIEW, Tetrascience, and enVigil. Well experienced in setting up instrumentation and data capture equipment, such as thermocouples, LVDT sensors, and tachometers. A good communicator who can work with project leads to develop test requirements. Good experience in report writing, with a high attention to detail. Able to do some occasional travelling.
