Senior Test Engineer - Bolton - £50K


Working within the manufacturing engineering team the senior test engineer’s primary role is to provide manufacturing test hardware support for PCBA’s, sub-assemblies, modules and final assemblies. This role also involves the support of existing manufacturing test equipment as well as the design and production of new test solutions.


Role


  • Produce manufacturing test strategies for PCBA, Module and Final assemblies
  • Provide test specifications to support new products, modules and assemblies
  • Design appropriate test fixtures and equipment for PCBA, sub-assemblies, modules and final assembly
  • Support existing test equipment both on-site and with suppliers
  • Specify parts, assemble, validate and maintain manufacturing test equipment
  • A close relationship with design engineering team is required to direct design for manufacture/test
  • Support legacy software tools and databases
  • Assist with prototype builds and NPI, feedback design for assembly / test issues to the engineering design team
  • Provide support for manufacturing test, assist in diagnostics and failure analysis
  • Fault analysis to component level
  • Data analysis to identify fault trends and prioritise corrective actions
  • Identify test escapes and implement fixes
  • Provide work instructions to support product test and configuration


Skills


  • Must have excellent IT productivity tool knowledge (MS Office tools, Excel, Word etc)
  • Good written and communication skills
  • Demonstrable understanding of electronic principles
  • Experience of debugging electronic circuits down to component level
  • Knowledge and experience of LabView is an advantage
  • Core coding skills (i.e. Python, XML, C#, C++)
  • Able to demonstrate an ability for problem solving
  • Proficient data analysis skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work alone or in a team environment
  • Experience of electronics CAD systems is essential and Mechanical CAD is desirable
  • Lean and six sigma training is desirable
