Children's Services provide a range of highly specialised services to vulnerable children and young people. These services are delivered directly to children and their families within extensive statutory frameworks. Staff working in these areas require specialist knowledge to deliver effective services to high-risk and high-need groups. This often involves close collaboration with stakeholders such as Senior Managers, County Councillors, and Emergency Planning. About the Role As a

Senior Travel & Assessment Officer , you will be part of the Children, Families, and Lifelong Learning Directorate, joining our Travel and Assessment team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of Home to School Transport. You will undertake operational tasks and processes, working with Contracted Transport Operators, parents, head teachers, and other internal and external agencies as necessary. You will provide guidance and support to these service users, stakeholders and operators. Tasks are performed in accordance with relevant Government legislation and Council policies, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail, high levels of customer service and safeguarding. Additionally, you will hold contract management responsibility for approximately 40 of our operators. This team is responsible for delivering and monitoring compliance with the home-to-school transport service for children across the authority. This is a complex, statutory area of work that requires strict adherence to policies and procedures. The post holder must ensure safeguarding issues are addressed and that appropriate resources are allocated to pupils eligible for travel assistance.
