1 What Is the Opportunity?
Our Corporate team use their specialist expertise to offer bespoke insurance solutions to our largest and most complex clients in the UK and Ireland. Due our continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our team in any of our UK or Ireland offices. In this interesting and varied role, you will be involved from the early stages of client engagement through close interaction and collaboration with our colleagues in Risk Control, Claim, and other critical stakeholders both in the UK and the US. You’ll be responsible for managing renewal business opportunities and developing prospects, leading the technical underwriting of these risks and helping to deliver Travelers’ bespoke customer proposition. You’ll manage an assigned allocation of large cross class accounts and will also be one of the primary contacts for our regional underwriting teams, providing technical support to assist writing new business and retaining our existing accounts with our broking partners. Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion. This role is eligible for a £2,500 new joiner bonus. If you are successfully referred by an employee at Travelers Europe, both you and the person who referred you could be eligible for this bonus. What Will You Do?
Underwrite and assess risk to maximise business growth and profitability for allocated book of business. Actively participate and support Development and Renewal Underwriters in new business, renewal and mid-term alteration underwriting activities. Provide leadership and coaching for Associate Underwriter to help with their development. Accountable for accurate underwriting documentation in account management systems. Understand and execute Travelers’ underwriting strategies and principles. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues in other parts of the organisation. Seek out training opportunities to further develop underwriting and sales expertise. Develop and leverage productive relationships through broker visibility and a disciplined sales management approach. Assist in the development and execution of sales plans with emphasis on increasing marketing and sales activities. Actively participate in regularly scheduled sales and underwriting meetings. Work effectively as a productive and supportive team member. Demonstrate superior customer service standards to meet Travelers’ service standards. Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
University degree preferred. Working knowledge of the local insurance marketplace. General knowledge of organisational and regulatory rules, policies and procedures. Basic Product/Technical proficiency commensurate to incumbent's underwriting authority. Demonstrates basic ability in the areas of customer focus and positive broker interaction. Basic ability to effectively coach others. Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Certification preferred. What is a Must Have?
Previous experience of underwriting in Property and Casualty classes of business. Incumbents are required to hold a full and valid driving licence. What Is in It for You?
