Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant [Permitting & Compliance]

– Remote/UK – Permanent Job – Up to £55k Your new company My client partners with their clients to ensure that environmental regulations, legislation, and goals are met. With their head office in Sheffield (but various locations across the UK and remote options available), they have been functioning across the UK for the past 20+ years. With an excellent track record and a growing business, they are looking to expand with the key appointment of a Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant to join their dynamic team and lead other consultants. Your new role Based within the advisory team, you will develop and nurture your own client accounts and oversee delivery, providing environmental guidance and support for them to maintain compliance with legislation and enhance their environmental performance. This will include carrying out audits, applying for permits and licenses, advising on legislation, producing environmental procedures and documentation, and often acting as the client’s Environmental Manager. Experience Required: Implementing, maintaining and/or auditing Environmental Management Systems to ISO14001 standards Environmental permitting, including preparing and submitting applications to the regulatory bodies Planning applications, preparing environmental statements for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) Consultation and engagement with regulatory bodies (i.e. Local Authorities, Environment Agency) Carrying out environmental audits, including legal compliance Understanding UK and European environmental legislation and how this translates to clients Working knowledge of the construction, food and drink, and manufacturing sectors Working with clients to identify cost-effective ways to minimize waste and adopt sustainable solutions Problem-solving and successfully managing projects to a conclusion within defined deadlines BREEAM, Construction Environmental Management Plans, and CL:AIRE Materials Management Plans Delivery of accredited and non-accredited environmental training courses Desirable but not essential experience would be business development and accountability for delivering work in line with business plan targets What you’ll need to succeed The position requires a wide range of skills including, but not limited to, the following: Proactive, enthusiastic, and conscientious self-starter with a proven track record of understanding and interpreting clients’ environmental needs and responsibilities Ability to identify decision-makers who could benefit from solutions and services High-quality management reporting Good organizational and time management skills with demonstrable experience of managing several projects Excellent communication skills for effective cross-company liaison Effective line management skills including the desire and ability to develop, nurture, and delegate to direct reports Effective use of customer relationship management systems A relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree in environmental science or equivalent Practitioner Membership with IEMA or equivalent Continuous Professional Development including: Environmental Management Implementation course or equivalent, Advanced EMS Auditor Training course or equivalent, Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) / Award in Education and Training (EAT) / or equivalent, Train the Trainer or equivalent Full, clean UK driving licence What you’ll get in return £33k-£55k DOE Car allowance Flexible working / Remote options available / 4-day working options Standard pension and holiday Structured career development pathways Access to an employee perk scheme Commitment to supporting the causes which are important to employees Investment in professional development and accreditation Employee Assistance Scheme Cycle to work salary sacrifice scheme Free winter flu jab What you need to do now If you’re interested in this role, click ‘apply now’ to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
