Ownership of all Service Charges - deliver a full service charge accounting service to the company within agreed timescales and service levels. Manage and develop the integrity of service charges applications, people, processes and systems ensuring they are robust and fit for purpose. Establish problem-solving and decision-making approaches specifically to service charges. Account for, monitor and report on service charge income and expenditure on a scheme-by-scheme basis. Maintain and reconcile scheme sinking funds and bank accounts and provide advice on estimated charges for new schemes. Raise charges/refunds as appropriate for scheme deficits/surpluses. Manage and resolve all resident queries as they relate to the charges levied. Ensure all accounts are reconciled in accordance with statutory requirements and financial regulations. Responsible for all reporting and query resolution on service charge issues to individual tenancies and leases. The provision of accurate and timely Service Charge accounting and Service charges budgets. Review and approve the certification of annual service charges, documenting the calculation and apportionment process, including the reports and supporting documentation. Manage the weekly payables process by ensuring all invoices are accurately coded in the system and suppliers are paid in a timely fashion from the correct property account. Carry out regular reviews of the service charge spend vs budget to highlight any overspend risks. Reconcile the bank accounts in Xero on a daily basis to ensure all reporting is accurate. Manage the annual budget setting process and annual financial statement production for service charges. Accuracy of account coding and liaison with account allocation team. The Successful Applicant will need to possess the following skills:
Qualified by experience or a qualified accountant with a clear understanding of accounting. Experience of managing external and internal auditors. Experienced in management. Experienced in Service charges in a housing context. Experienced in managing diverse tasks and activities and managing a complex customer base. Experience working in the social housing sector. Experience of Xero, property-specific software, Microsoft Office. Ability to take responsibility and work independently whilst meeting tight organisational deadlines. Knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build effective relationships at a senior level within the organisation. Management and development of staff with the ability to multi-task and provide assistance and guidance to an experienced team. The hours will be:
