Service Engineer - Mechanical £35,000 - £45,000 DOE The Mechanical Service Engineer is responsible for providing service, maintenance, and repairs on mechanical equipment. This role involves diagnosing issues, troubleshooting mechanical problems, and performing routine maintenance to ensure machinery operates efficiently and effectively. The Mechanical Service Engineer will work with clients to ensure high-quality service and deliver on project deadlines. The Role Clean, service, maintain, repair, overhaul, test and re-test tools, jigs, fixtures, lifting and manipulating equipment as per the customer schedule, both at the companies facility, and at customer sites around the UK, and occasionally throughout the rest of the world. Carry out a visual inspection of the customer equipment and record any damaged or missing parts in conjunction with the customer drawing or the OEM specification. Collate kits of parts ready for assembly (kit marshalling) and highlight any missing parts to the manager Prepare parts ready for subcontract processes/activities i.e. deburring, polishing, bead blasting etc Assemble precision components from mechanical assembly drawings, utilising a broad range of workshop tools including the use of drills, taps etc Attend performance meetings with manager and customer(s) To ensure company quality systems are adhered to always. Perform the services with a high degree of skill, care and diligence and in accordance with good industry & customer(s) practices. Work with managers and supervisors to implement the company’s policies and business objectives Person Specification Time served mechanical engineer or graduate Be willing to work away from home when required Effective administrator with good written & oral communication skills and organisational skills Ability to liaise with Managers to achieve customers’ demands Able to adopt a flexible approach to work and react effectively to a rapidly changing environment. Able to work under own initiative and with a high degree of autonomy, as well as part of a team. Experience of working to tight deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrable experience of delivering on customer requirements and against agreed deadlines. Would need to pass a Full DBS and security check, as this position involves working on military bases.
