OCU are looking for an experienced SHEQ Auditor to join the Team based in Reading to cover sites along the M4 corridor.

As a SHEQ Auditor, you will undertake health and safety site audits across various locations such as Reading, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, Bath, and Luton, providing Health and Safety information, advice, and training to all levels and departments within OCU Business.

Responsibilities

Collaborate effectively with the SHEQ Manager to ensure safety, health, environment, and quality standards are upheld. Conduct thorough inspections to identify unsafe plant, working conditions, and practices, providing detailed reports with actionable recommendations to address any issues. Mentor site operatives, fostering a culture of safety and compliance through education and support. Assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents by gathering relevant information and supporting analysis. Perform data downloads and analysis for cable avoidance tools to ensure accurate and safe operations. Stay informed about evolving legislation, codes of practice, and industry guidance, sharing updates with the team to maintain compliance. Provide management with timely, accurate safety information to uphold legal standards and implement industry best practices. Ensure all safety alerts and instructions are communicated promptly, driving continuous improvements across business operations. Actively promote and engage the workforce in the company's "Mindset" behavioural programme to strengthen a positive safety culture.

Skills & Experience

NEBOSH (General or Construction Certificate) or working towards. Experience within utilities desirable. Strong understanding of safe working practices and an ability to promote safety culture. Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative; enthusiastic with a 'can do' attitude. Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to manage potential conflict during site inspections with operational teams. Capable of delivering confident, articulate presentations. Good time management skills and able to work to deadlines. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Must hold a current UK Driving License.

Desirable Qualifications CSCS Card (appropriate type). NRSWA Supervisors.
