Acorn by Synergie is searching for a SHEQ Manager to join our client, a manufacturing company in Widnes, Cheshire.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the purpose of the role is to take responsibility for onsite environment, health and safety standards and procedures ensuring high level of compliance and adherence at all times. The role will also involve an element of quality management, procedures and successful audit accreditation.

Principle accountabilities include:

Working with the site leadership team to promote and drive SHE compliance and a world class SHE culture. Implementation and monitoring of the sites SHE policies. Ensure active participation of all staff at all levels in the safety participation programme. Conduct risk assessments and PHAs and action corrections. Coordination and management of all contractors and staff inductions. Participate with quality and productivity improvements via the development of new procedures and processes. Conduct internal SHEQ audits to the required schedules. Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, formulating corrective and preventative measures to mitigate risk. Collaborate with regulatory bodies, clients and contractors concerning all safety, health, environmental and quality matters.

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have previous experience working in a similar Health & Safety Manager / Specialist role, ideally coming from a manufacturing background.

A NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent is essential for this position. Bachelor's Degree (in a relevant discipline) preferred. Thorough knowledge of H&S laws, regulations, practice and standards. Experience of ISO 9001/14001 and internal auditing.
