About the role

The Energy Centre is a multi-million-pound purpose built Combine Heat and Power (CHP) Station, providing steam, electricity, medium pressure hot water and compressed air to the Nottingham site.

As part of the Engineering Facilities Management team (EFM), our team of skilled Engineers and Technicians are focussed on delivering the highest-level of service to the Nottingham site.

The Shift Operations Controller is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient running of the Boots D200 Energy Centre. Working alone or as part of a team, they would be relied upon to use good communication skills to engage with various stakeholders across the business to ensure security of supply.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Will be trained on both plant and operations within the Energy Centre. Operate the Energy Centre in the most economic and effective manner, meeting site demands for service while maintaining security of supplies. Continuously check and monitor plant performance, apply corrective actions or initiate maintenance to ensure the plant is operating effectively. Control the safe systems of working within the Energy Centre including isolating plant, issuing permits to work and maintaining and improving safe working conditions. Carry out first line fault finding on the plant. Positively respond to abnormal or emergency situations. Enter all plant defects into the Energy Centre's maintenance system. Ensure they are actioned by the appropriate person and arrange for the plant to be made available for repair. Provide support and guidance to other team members and to provide technical assistance as and when required. Participate in the continuing development and review of standard operating procedures and safe systems of work. Be flexible with regards to the nature of any task, being effective, professional, and presentable at all times. What you'll need to have

Ability to respond to operational issues as and when they occur, making immediate and effective decisions to minimise disruption of services to customers. Experience of working with multiple outsourced service providers, internal and external teams. Ability to act on own initiative and without support. Keen interest in personal development opportunities. Exceptional communication skills. Strong Engineering background either in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines. It would be great if you also have:
