The Role: As a Simulator Performance Engineer, you will work within the Simulator Group, furthering the design and performance of our real-world race cars through our state-of-the-art driver-in-the-loop Simulator facility. You will play a crucial role in achieving best-in-class Driver-in-the-loop Simulator capabilities by working with our colleagues and PU supplier to deliver high quality results and developing the Simulator systems, tools and processes. Key Responsibilities: Planning, executing, analysing and reporting Simulator tests. Support correlation activities to ensure Simulator behaviour matches real car behaviour. Contribute to the development of the driver-in-the-loop simulator (including motion control, cueing, graphics etc.) to advance it’s capabilities and increase its contribution to real-world car development. Proactively develop vehicle performance analysis methodologies which can be applied to simulator and/or real-world car data. Problem solving in areas of vehicle dynamics and performance as required by the team’s priorities. The Person: We are looking for a motivated individual with at least two years of experience in developing hardware-in-the-loop simulations. The ideal candidate will possess: First-Class Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, with a good general technical engineering knowledge, a strong mathematical background, and a strong grasp of vehicle dynamics. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong time-management and planning abilities. Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision, delivering high-quality designs to crucial deadlines. Minimum of 2 years’ professional engineering experience in Formula 1 or another high-level motorsport championship. Expertise in the use of MATLAB/Simulink and Motorsport data analysis software (e.g. Atlas). Experience of programming in Python or C would be an advantage.
