Our client, a hazardous waste management company, is looking for a Site Chemist to join their team in West Bromwich. You will work alongside site operatives and the Site Chemist Manager to ensure that chemicals are processed, stored, labelled, and transferred in a safe, compliant, and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Receiving, storing, and handling of hazardous waste on site. Assessing waste on arrival for acceptance checks and analysis, using the laboratory facilities or onsite testing. Compatibility testing of wastes in preparation for repacking or bulking. Laboratory analysis of site effluent and other customer samples. Repacking of wastes such as laboratory smalls, ensuring compliance with waste segregation, labelling, and packing requirements. Providing support to the Senior Chemist, Compliance Manager, and site operatives in the day-to-day running of the site in line with all relevant permits and legislation. Ensuring the correct segregation and storage of hazardous waste in line with company procedures and regulatory requirements. Working alongside site operatives to ensure that waste is processed, stored, and transferred in a safe, compliant, and timely manner. Assisting with the control of material flows and ensuring container stocks are maintained to avoid delays and backlogs. Raising non-conformances and providing necessary information to allow these to be actioned. Maintaining effective record keeping and documentation, including the running of the site’s stock control system, production records, and in-process records.

Requirement:

You will ideally hold a Degree within a Chemistry related discipline and have previous experience in a similar role. You will be a strong communicator with good organisational skills and a willingness to develop within the role.
