Peace Recruitment are seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join a dynamic construction team delivering a prestigious hotel development in the heart of Edinburgh. This fast-paced project involves RC frames, pre-cast elements, and structural works, requiring precision, expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

This is a 3-month contract with an excellent opportunity to contribute to a landmark project in the capital.

Key Responsibilities

* Setting Out: Accurately interpret and set out works from engineering drawings, ensuring all site activities align with project specifications.

* Surveying: Conduct site surveys, level checks, and dimensional controls using total stations and other surveying equipment.

* Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of work, ensuring compliance with designs, specifications, and safety standards.

* Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical challenges on-site efficiently and effectively.

* Coordination: Liaise with the site manager, subcontractors, and other team members to ensure smooth delivery of works.

* Documentation: Maintain detailed records of site activities, including as-built drawings and daily progress reports.

About You

We are looking for a confident, detail-oriented engineer who thrives in high-pressure environments. The ideal candidate will have:

* Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in setting out for RC frames, pre-cast, and structural works.

* Qualifications: Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

* Skills: Proficiency in setting out equipment (e.g., Leica or Trimble), CAD software, and Microsoft Office.

* Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction processes, particularly RC frame and structural works.

* Certifications: Valid CSCS card is essential; SMSTS and First Aid are advantageous.

* Availability: Ability to commit to the full 3-month contract from January 2025
