Job Summary:
Job Title: Site HR Manager (Part-time)
Location: Chelmsford
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum, FTE
Standard Hours: Part-time, 30 hours per week spread out over 5 days

We are seeking an experienced Site HR Manager to join our client, Smurfit Westrock, a global leader in paper-based packaging. This is an exciting opportunity to lead HR initiatives and make a significant impact on the business.
As Site HR Manager, you will carry out this stand alone site HR position, supporting all shopfloor and office staff. This part-time role will be site based in Chelmsford.

About the Site HR Manager Role
Reporting into the UK Head of Engagement and Communication, you will be developing and implementing HR strategies aligned with the overall business objectives, alongside partnering with the Senior Leadership Team to drive organisational change and development initiatives.
Other responsibilities will include:
Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
Handle employee relations issues, including grievances and disciplinary actions.
Lead talent management and succession planning efforts.
Oversee recruitment and onboarding processes.
Administer employee benefits programmes.
Foster a positive workplace culture through engagement initiatives.
Develop and implement training and development programmes.
Act as a liaison with union representatives and manage union-related activities.
Manage documentation for payroll, including new starters and salary changes.
About You
The successful Site HR Manager will have proven experience as a HR Manager (preferably in a manufacturing environment), alongside being CIPD qualified or qualified by experience.
Other requirements include:
Preferably have a proven track record in dealing with unions and managing union-related activities and negotiations.
Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and regulations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Demonstrating a deep understanding of customer needs.
Proven ability to work effectively with others.
Encourages and implements new ideas.
Takes responsibility for actions and decisions.
