This Exclusive Housing Developer is looking for a Technically orientated Site Manager to join them on a brand new development comprised of 40 eco homes in North Somerset.

JOB ROLE The successful candidate will join an established team of knowledgeable employees/subcontractors supported by an award winning design and engineering team. There will be a period of training/mentorship where the successful applicant will work alongside one of our current site managers.

This is an unparalleled opportunity to work on a project at the forefront of sustainable construction and we require all applicants to be committed to developing a specialism in this area.

The successful candidate will be working with a small team in a fast-changing industry, and there will be plenty of opportunity for growth. We actively support further professional development including qualifications in both site management and sustainability such as the Passive House tradesperson course.

The role initially focuses on four principal elements:

1. SITE SAFETY

Risk assessments, method statements and COSHH

Site inductions, sign in records, near miss/accident reporting, etc

Tool box talks (and records)

Support office team in creating Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) and advising when updates are required

Weekly site checklist (taking remedial action as required)

Plant and tool maintenance (ensuring all are safe for use and appropriate records kept)

2. TEAM AND TASK MANAGEMENT

Support office team in creating/maintaining construction schedules, providing regular feedback on site progress and issues arising

Site diary updates

Task allocation for onsite employees and subcontractors

Performance review and feedback for site employees

Coordination of third parties: subcontractors, utilities, mechanics etc.

Coordination of deliveries to site

3. ONSITE SUPPORT

Work alongside our consultancy team to develop skills in reviewing for airtightness and thermal breaks as well as gaining knowledge of sustainable building techniques

Help facilitate dynamic construction problem solving across our site and consultancy teams as they work together to develop sustainable solutions

Provide site labour on an adhoc basis when required to support the team (large deliveries, meeting deadlines, etc)

Support architect and in house engineers in surveying and site set out

4. LABOUR AND MATERIAL SOURCING (supported by office team)

Subcontractor identification, associated tender processes and appointment

Purchase of new and reclaimed non specialist building materials

Waste management

Plant and tool identification, comparison studies and purchase

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Experience in all areas listed under SITE SAFETY above (essential)

Completion of relevant construction health and safety courses such as SMSTS (essential)

Min 3 years experience working on a construction site (essential)

Min 18 months experience in a site manager role (essential)

Experience in a Site Manager role (desired)

Professional qualification related to site management (desired)

A full UK/European driving licence (essential)

Good spoken and written English (essential)
