Our client is a well-established building contractor with a strong track record of delivering high-quality construction projects across the North East of the UK. Specialising in new build, refurbishment, and fitout projects, they are known for their commitment to quality, safety, and client satisfaction. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced Site Manager to join their team. Job Summary: As a Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of construction sites, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You will manage and coordinate teams, sub-contractors, suppliers, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing a variety of building projects, including new build, refurbishment, and fitout works, and will bring excellent leadership and organisational skills to the role. Key Responsibilities: Site Management: Oversee the construction site from inception through to completion, ensuring smooth operation on-site. Monitor progress and ensure that all activities are carried out to the highest quality standards. Plan, coordinate, and monitor the daily operations of site activities. Health & Safety: Ensure that all site work complies with Health and Safety legislation and best practice. Ensure all subcontractors, workers, and visitors adhere to health and safety standards. Team Coordination: Manage and supervise on-site workforce, including direct staff and subcontractors. Facilitate communication between project teams, contractors, suppliers, and the client. Coordinate labour, material deliveries, and plant equipment to maintain project flow. Quality Control: Ensure that work meets the required quality standards and specifications. Work with the project team to resolve any quality or technical issues. Project Scheduling & Budget Control: Monitor project timelines and ensure that deadlines are met. Manage site budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimising waste. Review and adjust project schedules as required to avoid delays and cost overruns. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records, including daily reports, site diaries, and progress updates. Liaise with senior management to provide regular progress reports and highlight any potential risks or issues. Key Skills & Experience: Experience: Proven experience as a Site Manager within the construction industry, specifically working on new build, refurbishment, and fitout projects. Strong knowledge of construction processes, building regulations, and safety standards. Experience managing teams, subcontractors, and supply chains. Qualifications: SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification. First Aid qualification (ideally 3-day). CSCS Card (Manager level). Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management or a related discipline (preferred but not essential).
