We are a growing multi-national food wholesaler looking to recruit a Site Maintenance Assistant to work in our Engineering Department within our Distribution Centre in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. You will form part of a small engineering team providing support to our large 420,000 sq ft Food Distribution depot which handles ambient, chill and frozen goods. The site engineering team currently cover a rolling shift pattern covering the hours of 06.00am to 22.00hrs, predominately, this is a full-time role working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday and to cover at least 1 in 4 Saturdays. Also, the individual will be expected to be on call every 4th week and attend site as required overnight, if necessary. There will also be a requirement to travel to other parts of the business in the network on occasions which is reflected with on call premiums and overtime. Completion of Safe and Legal tasks /checks as identified by the Verisae system. Controlling of contractors and completion of minor works around the site as necessary ie inspecting machinery, equipment, buildings and systems, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Checking and maintaining safety equipment such as fire alarms, fire extinguishers and carbon monoxide detectors to name a few. All aspects of general engineering in the warehouse environment internally and externally ie completing small repairs such as fixing locks, leaky taps and broken windows. Following a maintenance schedule to ensure that all routine tasks are completed. Previous experience in the maintenance, servicing of warehouse, office facilities and be willing to multi-skill. Ideally IPAF trained but any qualifications or experience in the area of electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, painting & decorating would be an added advantage. A self-motivated, committed team player who has a proactive approach to the development of themselves and the engineering department. Able to work at height. A flexible and adaptable approach to spontaneous challenges. Be confident in working alone when required. Have a high regard for H&S awareness. Able to work to strict budgets. An analytical approach with excellent problem solving abilities. Racking training will be provided as required and any additional training will be made available in the future to further develop a successful candidate.
