Our Small Animal Carers provide care to the small animals we have on site, until they can be rehomed. You will help with feeding, socialising, administering medication, grooming and cleaning. You may be asked to follow risk assessments and behaviour programmes.

Why we want you It would be advantageous to have had some previous experience of looking after small animals and to want to help pets in need!

What you will be doing

Caring for Blue Cross small animals on site - until they can be rehomed

Providing all the care they need including feeding, socialising, administering medication, grooming and cleaning. This may also include following risk assessments and behaviour programmes

Giving observations on each pet including filling in assessments and diaries, providing photos and videos for our website and potential adopters

Maintaining stocks of food and other items in the Small Animal section

Ensuring the general tidiness of the site is maintained

There may be an opportunity to develop the role and take on additional responsibilities after further training.

The skills you need

An interest in pet welfare. Previous experience of handling and caring for small pets is an advantage.

Willingness to learn and follow Blue Cross procedures and undertake training provided

Regular commitment and reliability

Competent, team player and self-motivated

Confident, friendly and with a professional approach

Ability to work in a team or alone
