Yes Job Description:

An opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join the team at a single site, independent small animal practice in the lovely market town of Devizes on either a full or part-time basis.

This thriving market town is tucked away on the edge of both Salisbury Plain and the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, rolling hills, and tranquil canals and yet is still in striking distance of Bath and Bristol as well as the M4 corridor.

This newly renovated and well-equipped practice has an amazing and experienced team (including certificate holders) on hand and happy to discuss cases. Teleconsulting support is also available from VetCT and orthopaedic support from Rata if required. You will be involved in clinical decision-making rather than focusing on financial targets and KPIs.

First established in 1897, the practice is now a lovely new, air-conditioned, purpose-built facility with two sterile operating theatres, an imaging suite, digital x-ray and ultrasound including a dedicated cardiac probe used by their cardiologist. There is also a dental theatre with dental x-rays, a dedicated and fully stocked laboratory as well as separate cat, dog, and isolation wards. They also have a large meeting space which is primarily used for in-house training events and CPD.

The position will involve periods of both consulting and operating, although the rota can be tailored to an individual’s strengths.

The practice provides its own out-of-hours service, the rota currently involves 1:6 weekends and Saturday mornings and usually 1 weekday night.

A typical week involves:

1 or 2 shifts 8.45am to 5pm 1 or 2 shifts 8.45am to 6pm 1 half day pw 8.30am to 1pm (with additional Friday half day following a weekend on call) 1 on-call day 8.30am to 6.30pm (the nurse on duty takes the on-call phone)

Included in the package on offer: A competitive salary DOE (from £35k for a new grad up to £67k+ for a more experienced vet) A generous CPD allowance with no set cap and certificates supported and fully funded Practice membership with Webinar Vet The option of large and newly decorated accommodation in Devizes as part of your salary
