We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join OVO as a qualified Smart Energy Engineer. You’ll be working at customers' homes delivering a service we can be proud of and helping us achieve our mission of driving progress towards net zero carbon living.

This role in a nutshell:

You will play a key role in supporting our customers and OVO onto the path of Zero Carbon by visiting our customers, offering amazing Customer Service, carrying out Smart installs, and providing fantastic energy efficiency.

You will report directly to the Metering Team Manager. As a team, you will hold responsibility for safely carrying out smart metering installations and maintenance, ensuring fantastic customer service and energy efficiency.

You’ll be working 42.5 hours per week based in one of the areas above. Some travel may be required for training, team connections, and to support customer demand. The role also involves driving one of our EV vans for work purposes only.

You must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, demonstrating sound decision-making skills. You will act as a problem solver, taking responsibility for your work and constantly driving positive outcomes.

Your key outcomes will be:

Being a passionate advocate of OVO’s Plan Zero and energy efficiency, delivering the highest level of customer satisfaction. Engaging with our customers on the benefits of smart meters, including how to monitor and reduce their energy consumption. With support and coaching from mentors and your Manager, you will continue to develop. Ensuring you have the right materials stocked in your van and a proactive approach to pre-visit communication. Utilizing strong technical skills to deliver exceptional service, getting it right the first time. Adapting working methods to install Smart metering systems in various customer environments. Identifying unsafe situations or conditions and taking appropriate actions. Collaborating with peers and colleagues while maintaining a flexible approach to meet customer needs. Taking ownership of your work and refreshing your knowledge and skills. Carrying out risk assessments to ensure safety for yourself, customers, and their property.

Preferable experience:

RTS/MRMM/THTC Systems: Safety Culture, Bybox, Zeno, Smartphone/handheld device

You’ll be a successful Smart Energy Engineer here at OVO if you… Hold a CCN1/CMA1 & MET1 or Level 2 Smart Meter Diploma. Have a minimum of 6 months experience as a Smart Energy Engineer / Dual Fuel Meter installer. Hold a current full manual driving license (with up to 6 points), valid in the UK. Have a strong desire to learn and develop, using creative thinking. Demonstrate key behaviors that align with our OVO values. Value different perspectives, skills, and experiences. Are comfortable talking to and helping our customers in their homes. Are great at multitasking and managing your time effectively.
