Social and Emotional Mental Health Teacher Permanent contract Harrogate-based Key Stage 3 & 4 ASAP start date Overview NextGen are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teacher for one of our partnership schools based in Harrogate, easily accessible from North Leeds, Skipton, York, and Keighley. We are looking for a Qualified Teacher with QTs who is seeking to make a difference teaching students with Social and Emotional Mental Health needs. The majority of the students at this school live with anxiety, and the school is looking for a Primary Teacher who is passionate about working with SEMH learners or a SEMH Specialist Teacher seeking a new challenge. This role is a temporary to permanent contract through NextGen Teachers and would be starting in January/February 2025. Teachers applying for this position must have access to a car to get to the school and must be comfortable with therapy dogs and farm animals. Responsibilities Provide individualized support to children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. Collaborate with parents and other professionals to create tailored educational plans that promote learning and development. Implement strategies to enhance communication skills among children, adapting techniques to suit individual needs. Monitor and document the progress of each child, providing feedback to parents and team members regularly. Create a safe and inclusive environment that encourages exploration and learning through play. Experience Proven experience in special education or related fields is essential. Experience working with children diagnosed with autism or other developmental disorders is an advantage. Strong communication skills are necessary for effectively interacting with children, parents, and colleagues. A passion for educating and supporting children in their growth and development is crucial for success in this role. Familiarity with Teach Teach training and willingness to complete the course.
