£26,766 - £29,131 Parkdale Residential Home, Auchterarder

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Care Officer within Parkdale Care Home, a service for older people providing permanent and respite care.

As a Social Care Officer, you will have the opportunity to put the residents' care and wellbeing at the heart of everything you do. Promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life at all times in a person-centred caring and supportive environment.

Duties will include assisting with daily activities, providing residents with both physical and emotional support, and personal care as needed.

You will be required to administer medication, assist with developing support plans, and carry out reviews to achieve desired outcomes.

We operate a 12-hour shift pattern on a 6-week rota, which includes 2 weeks of nightshift. This can be flexible and negotiated at the interview stage. The post may include a shift allowance.

The Individual We require a truly caring person with a good sense of humour who can build and maintain a good rapport with the residents and their families.

This is an exciting opportunity for those who enjoy going that extra mile and are friendly and enthusiastic about caring for others, and who can lead by example. A genuine interest in the health and wellbeing of vulnerable people is essential.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills and appreciate the needs, wishes, and aspirations of older people and how best to support them and their carers in the care home setting.

No entry requirement in terms of qualification. However, you are required and will be supported to work towards SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF level 7 (was SVQ3).

You will be required to register with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Care Home service, which will need to be done within 6 months of any start date.

If you would like more information regarding this vacancy, please contact Lynsay Lwanyaga, Care Home Manager on 01764 661366.

When completing your application for this post, please ensure that you provide contact details (including e-mail addresses) for two referees. One should be your current or most recent employer.

Please APPLY ONLINE. Facilities are available at all public libraries in Perth and Kinross. If you have a disability and require reasonable adjustments, please call 01738 475555 to discuss.

As part of our safer recruitment measures, any offer of employment will be subject to the successful completion of mandatory checks including eligibility to work in the UK, Disclosure Scotland or PVG, qualifications, references, and fitness to undertake the post. This may also include an Overseas Criminal Records Check if you have spent time living overseas.

A healthy work-life balance is important to Perth & Kinross Council, and we provide supportive management and flexible working arrangements to help you achieve this. You will have access to training and support for continued professional development.

Some jobs may have been traditionally carried out predominantly by one gender, but we encourage you to apply if you meet the requirements, irrespective of your gender.

In your application, and should you be invited to interview, you will be asked to describe situations that support the criteria required in the role and which also demonstrate our values and behaviours.
