As a Social Care Support Worker, you will work as part of a team on a rota basis (including weekends). We currently have a 14hr and a 21 hour post within our Whitdale Care Home in Whitburn. You will contribute to the care planning process for residents in consultation with other staff and ensure that care practice is non-discriminatory, acknowledging residents' personal beliefs and preferences. Awareness of and responsibility for the needs of older people with mental health problems, e.g., dementia, is essential. You will provide for the personal care, support, and emotional needs of older people requiring residential care. Your service must be compatible with professional social work practice and adhere to the policies, procedures, and standards set by the service. It is desirable that you possess an SVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent; however, you can be working towards this or be willing to work towards it. Experience of working with older people, preferably in a care home setting, is required. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council. This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC, and must submit their application within three months of their start date.
